Dating in the city sucks. From awkward Tinder dates to late night bar princes that turn into toads as soon as the beer goggles fade, trying to navigate what you want in a guy can be a  mystery. Lunch however, is more straightforward. You know what you like and don't have to worry about it letting you down. It's there for you Monday through Friday to offer you some bliss amidst the humdrum of your daily routine. So even though dating may not be so predictable, what your go-to lunch spot is may actually offer you some insight in what kind of guy you should actually set your sights on or at least give you something to think about while you wait for the clock to strike noon so you can go grab a meal to lust after alone in your cube. 

Pret a Manger

As a Pret goer you aren't really into the effort and commitment that go into dating. You just need someone who is there for you at your convenience to fit your busy schedule. Your perfect guy is a no strings attached friend with benefits. You both enjoy each other’s company and all that comes with your speedy arrangement. No need to wine and dine or have the daunting “what are we?” conversation with this guy. You can squeeze him in when you want without feelings and that's cool with both of you.

If you're into this stir-fry joint, you're into friendly, positive guys who enjoy networking, social media and unintentionally making you feel bad for not having more success in your early twenties. Your dream guy is an environment-loving former business bro who drinks from store bought mason jars and Instagrams every single one of his meals (which somehow all receive way more likes than any personal picture you've ever posted but you aren't bitter or anything...) Ideal couple activities with this guy include co-hosting themed dinner parties and collaborating on a super cool EDM playlists. #Fun.

Let's be honest, a Latinicity man is hot and knows it. He is a swanky Loop consultant type who manages to travel the world despite his hectic work schedule. He is full of stories and will talk your ear off about things like how you just can't get good civeche in the states. He probably owns a condo filled with prints from his travels which you appreciate even if they come off slightly pretentious. Just tread lightly, you aren't the only one impressed and interested in this guy.

The guy for a Nando's lover is someone who has no qualms about jumping right into the thick of a relationship. His passion and vibrant personality are contagious. He is a fun guy who will force you to broaden your horizons but is still open to listening to  your preferences. Even though you haven't known him for long, you are open to spicing up your love life with him.

For someone who chooses Just Salad as their go to lunch spot, you admire a guy who is fun and healthy. A Just Salad dream guy is the life of the party. He enjoys weekend bike rides, morning yoga and funky tanks that say stuff like"Turnip For What?" Though he is a health nut who treats his body like a temple, he isn't annoying about it. You will always have a good time with Just Salad guy even if your couple activities won't involve binge watching TV on the couch.

He will keep things fresh with fun date ideas like coffeeshop crawls, salsa dancing lessons and eating sandwiches while snuggling up watching Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. You won't meet Cafecito guy in a gross dive bar so keep a look out for him at classy places like neighborhood festivals.

A Peach & Green guy is underrated but a total catch. He is a great quality guy who doesn't rely on showboating to get attention. He is essentially that cute guy from college who you've friendzoned for a while but could see a future with one day. If Peach & Green is your place, start looking at  the guys in your life already for potential mates.

For the frequent Protein Bar goer, your guy treats his body like a temple which you appreciate (aka he is hot). He operates under a pretty strict schedule - gym, work, gym again, and bed but still makes time for you. He is introverted and can be pretty serious but you just get him. Ideal couple time for you two include runs by the lake, smoothies at farmer's markets on Saturdays and  grocery shopping at Whole Foods.

If you buy your lunch from a corner drugstore, you are into sloppy one-night stands and are totally cool with it. You live your life one day at a time and like the freedom that comes with it. Your type of guy is easy and generic. He isn't really boyfriend material and honestly, isn't really someone you want to see again. He is just there when you need him and you can rest easy knowing that there are a dozen others just like him around every corner.
